What is the classic Swiss breakfast muesli?

Do you know muesli? It is a type of cereal originating in Switzerland that is almost always included in the breakfast buffet when traveling in Switzerland. Oatmeal or granola? Some people may think that, but it may be a food that is just in between these two.

Muesli is a mixture of uncooked grains, dried fruits and nuts. Oatmeal is basically uncooked grains itself, while granola is made by adding honey, nuts, and vegetable oil to grains such as barley and brown rice, and baking them in an oven to create a toasted aroma. It may be easy to understand that muesli is a mixture of nuts and dried fruits combined with oatmeal that can be eaten as it is.

Is muesli nutritious?

I compared the nutritional value of muesli to granola and oatmeal (search for Muesli and Granola in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) database – Breakfast Cereals category). Granola has a healthy image, but you can see that it is surprisingly high in fat and high in calories. Muesli and oatmeal are nutritionally similar, but muesli contains dried fruits and other ingredients, so it seems to have less protein and more carbohydrates. If you are concerned about energy and lipids, it may be a good idea to choose muesli or oatmeal according to your taste preference

Muesli is a breakfast item that is currently attracting attention as it provides you vitamins and minerals from dried fruits and nuts in addition to oats, which are gaining popularity due to their healthiness. Another point is that it is easy to prepare, just pouring milk over it, in comparison to conventional breakfast. If you want to start your day with a well-balanced quick breakfast, why not give it a try?
